    Hi

I have an issue with serial number allocation. I think it’s when we have a failed order. Each of our products has an inventory of 25 seats and 25 serial numbers. So when someone buys a seat they also get a serial number. However, when an order has failed for that product, a serial number status is changed to ‘Active’ and it has no email address associated with it. Meaning the person selling seats cannot sell their full 25 places as they run out of serial numbers. So I’m having to give each person 30 serial numbers in order to sell 25 seats, just in case we have a few failed orders that eat up the serial numbers.

Also, we have to buy the serial numbers in that we are issuing for resale, so we don’t want to be leaking them out anywhere.

    Thanks.

    Kind regards

    Zoe Sterling

  • Hi Zoe (@embertech),
Will you please confirm that you have the proper setting options enabled? From the Delivery Settings of our plugin, you need to choose the options to revoke serial numbers and also enable the reuse of serial numbers. Please check this screenshot.

    Thank you.

    Hi

Sorry I didn’t get an email so see that you had replied.

Yes my settings are as you have listed there in the screenshot.

I am changing the structure of how serial numbers are issued, so at least the person selling seats can still sell the inventory total of seats and is not restricted by serial numbers. I’m creating a new product called digital codes and I’m going to use the Buy One Get One plugin to allocate a free code with every seat to a workshop, so this will solve the first issue, but I will still have the issue of ghost allocations whereby there is no email associated with the serial number but it has changed the status to active.

    Thanks
    Zoe

    Hi Zoe (@embertech),
I have tested the feature again and it has worked perfectly for me. Changing the order status to Cancelled, Refunded, or Failed freed the serial number from the order and the status was changed back to new.

We have fixed the ghost allocations in our latest update. Will you please verify that you are using the latest version?

If you have further problems, please let us know. You can also connect with us from our site. Thank you.
