    hello,

I am trying to improve the shop and would like to try to have a URL for each variant of products.

Now, I have one product page for each variant, ex each color of the product, have also created one general product where there are variant, same variants as I have created seperate URLs for.

My meaning is that if there are 3 variants, there will be 4 product pages, one for each variant and one general with variants to choose from.

I am not sure if this i a good way of displaying variants or not, both for user friendly shop and also for SEO as pages will have 99% same content.

I have tried different suggested solutions found online, but cant get to work.

Any suggestions how to fix or any comments for what is best practice to display variants in store

    thanks for any help ??

    Hi @stig0404 ??

Great question! For creating variants of the same products, we definitely recommend creating Variable Products. This would be the best way to do this in regards, optimization, storage, SEO, and most importantly user friendly. Here is a link to our documentation which guides you on how to do this:

    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/variable-product/

If you have any questions about this, please just let us know ??

    Cheers!

thanks for your quick reply ??

Yes, have made my variants, but wondering if it would be possible so that when choosing a variant, it loads the product page for that variant?

    thanks

Well, at the moment, there’s no default option for that in WooCommerce. Still, in my opinion, it wouldn’t be very user-friendly because if the user wants to change the variation, they will need to go back to the previous page and select another variant and keep doing the same for each variant they would like to visit. So the user experience (UX) wouldn’t be that great.

However, redirecting to another page when choosing a variant is certainly possible but you would require quite a bit of additional coding. Please kindly note that this requires some custom coding – which goes beyond the scope of support we are able to provide in this forum.

If you do require more help with the actual coding, we’d recommend you hire a developer who can take a look at this, quote you for their services, and help you add this feature to your site. We’d recommend getting in touch with a web developer or one of the customization experts listed at https://woocommerce.com/customizations/.

    Cheers ??

thanks for your very quick response ??

So, you think best is to only use one product page with normal variants on it?

Both for user friendly and also SEO?

    thanks

    Happy to help ??

Absolutely! Variable products are the best way to go.

For SEO, I’d recommend checking the following guide (when you have some free time available ??) in which talks deeply about SEO for online stores:

    I hope that helps!
