Separating sidebars and Content Areas
-
I really need help. I am trying to create a wordpress blog with a content area whereas the content area is by itself and the sidebars are separate. A perfect example would be that of Brian Gardner (https://www.briangardner.com) website, or https://greyscalegorilla.com. If you look at these sites, both have a content area by “itself” in the sense that whenever they make a post to the content area, only the content area itself expands, thus leaving the background as is. Most of the themes I have ran into (child themes for genesis) tend to have this area and the sidebars lumped in together so that when you post to this area, the whole thing expands, including the background. Basically I want my sidebars to be outside of the wrap of the content area and I also want to be able to customize or move my sidebars to wherever I like on the page. So in short, I want to be able to have content and sidebars independent of each other, be able to place sidebars wherever I need to position them, as well as customize the sidebars (colors, size, font changes…etc) Can this be accomplished?
