Separate GA4 Tracking Codes Issue

    Hello! I set up a new GA4 property to separate my Web Stories traffic from my normal traffic and entered that measurement ID into the Web Stories plugin.

    The Web Stories property is getting data, however my original GA4 is also getting information from Web Stories when I don’t want it to.

    Can anyone help me remove the Web Stories data from my original GA4? I only want to see data from my blog posts.

    Hi there

    How did you set up GA4 originally for your blog posts? If it’s with a specific plugin, you might need to look into the plugin’s settings to stop it from tracking stories.

    If you share your website / story URL we can take a look too and see if we spot anything from the outside.

    Hi Pascal, thanks for the quick response!

    I set up all my GA4 through Google.

    I do use RankMath but in the settings for analytics I only selected the GA4 property and data stream for my blog post, not the one set up for Web Stories. I used to have Site Kit but deleted it when it wouldn’t let me add a separate measurement ID for stories.

    Alright, I just took a look at Rank Math and unfortunately it does not look like there is a way to prevent it from adding its GA tag on web stories either via the UI or programmatically. If you ask their support maybe they know a way.

    As for Site Kit, we are considering a change in our next version to make it possible to use a separate measurement ID for stories. Would that be easier for you?
