• I just want my categories to be separate from my products. I’m so confused as to why this isn’t the default.

I have found a number of threads about this and the solution usually involves having WooCommerce only show products, and then using woocommerce_maybe_show_product_subcategories() to render the categories in a template somewhere. Unfortunately, that renders nothing for me.

  • Howdy ??

In the context of the shop page, you can configure WooCommerce to display only categories in the customizer, e.g.:

Is that what you’re looking for?

Not at all, no. I want to show both. I just want them in separate DIVs like they should be by default.

    Hi @telfire,

What do you mean specifically by having them in separate divs? What purpose would that serve out of curiosity? Is your end goal to do something like the homepage of Storefront does?

I mean don’t lump two things, that are completely and totally unrelated to each other, into the same div. That makes it impossible to style it how I want it and is just semantically wrong.

It makes absolutely no sense for categories to be treated like products. I have no idea who in their right mind would style a website that way. The categories need to appear in their own section, styled completely differently from the products.

Yes, that image approximates my end goal.
