Separate age categories for dogs and cats

    I would like to have separate age categories for dogs and cats.

    Cats aged under 1yr / 1-3 years / 3-5 years and so on
    Dogs 1yr / 1-3 years / 3-5 years and so on

    If you click 1-3 years on a page showing a cat, I would like the search result to only display cats of that age (not both).

    The way I wanted to resolve this was to create two seperate age groups:

    1-3 years for cats with a shortened name: cats_1-3
    1-3 years for dogs with a shortened name: dogs_1-3

    But the problem is, that when you edit an animal the two categories show up, but without a visible shortened name there is no way to distinguish them. Is there a simple way of modifying the code of the plugin so that is displays a shortened name beside the age name (or a description of that age).

    the perfect solution would be sort of bound the sub-categories to the main category (DOG, CAT, SOMETHING ELSE).

    Then while choosing AGE, COAT etc. you could choose if that particular age / coat sub-category belongs to DOGS – main category / CATS – main category.
