SEO & Using short codes for head tags

Does anyone know if any progress has been made with being able to use shortcodes for metatags? I have a couple of different plugins that allow header / footer scripts but when using airpress shortcodes they dont seem to work. Why would the shortcodes work in the “Body” but not the “Head”? The two different plugins i have are “The SEO Framework” and “Header and Footer Scripts”. If the short codes will not work in the header using either of these plugins i assume that building a custom template to manipulate the header would not work either? Does anyone have a direction that i can go with this?
