SEO Using a blog as a homepage

Hi all,
I’m currently in the process of building my first wordpress website. Here’s my question:

If a homepage is a blog, will the homepage be optimised for various keywords/phrases?

I.e, Lets say the company’s website trades in wine. Then I start to write posts:
* Post one is optimised for ‘making wine’
* Post two is optimised for ‘importing wine’
* Post three is optimised for ‘organic wine’

Then someone searches for ‘organic wine’. What would appear in the google listings (SERPs) the actual blog post or the homepage?
