• Hi – I’ve added Meta Title and Meta Description to this page (and others) and updated, but on ‘view page source’ I cannot see any code to show that my title or description is there as a meta tag on the live page. Please advise? Thanks.

Hello Tracy, please try visiting the “SEO Settings” tab of the “Appearance – Customize” admin section, un-tick the “Activate Bento SEO features” checkbox, save the changes, then tick the box again and save the changes once more. After that refresh the “About” page you mention and check if the intended meta data is present. Let me know if there are still issues after that!

Thanks- that worked! Will it now work for the other pages or will I have to untick and tick each time? Also, the meta data seems to be very low down on the source code page, does this have any impact on SEO? Usually I thought it is at the top of the page in the head tag? Thanks.

A one-time action should be enough for the entire website ?? we’re working to make sure this never happens again in future theme updates.

The exact position of the meta tags doesn’t really make a difference as long as it’s inside the <head></head> section. WordPress adds a lot of stuff into that section, including various third-party plugins adding their own code via hooks, so the meta tags may show up closer or further from the top of the document depending on your particular setup – Google will definitely find and index them in any case ??
