• Hi Everyone,
    I’m having some problems getting my site (https://www.williamssprinklerandirrigation.com) to rank in the search engines, I’m there, but I’m not competing well. So one of the tools I’ve used in my quest to improve results is https://www.internetmarketingninjas.com/seo-tools/keyword-density/ i compared my keyword density to some of my competitors that are doing better, and one of the things i’ve noticed is that while my competitor is also using a word press site, the majority of things logging on my site as keywords are not actually “words” in the language sense.

    This tool is logging exactly what I would expect to see for my competitor. Sprinkler repair, sprinkler installation etc, but when I scan my site, it’s logging phrases like wp-admin/uploads (the file storage location for my images). I also see some very strange things: baeaaaaalaaaaaabaaeaaaibraa for example. This shows up no where in the content of my page, however when I “view source” on the page itself this I see this repeated several times: <td >R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7″ data-src=”https://www.williamssprinklerandirrigation.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/sprinkler_valve_bullet.png&#8221;

    Why would something like this be showing up when the page is rendered? Does anyone have any suggestions on what I’m doing wrong? I’ve added the Yoast SEO plugin to my app, and have my pages configured to “green”…

  • Hi D Jordan,

    What you’re seeing are “Data URIs”, which is the image data instead of linking to an actual image file. You can read here for more information.

    The problem comes from your bullet points, and I’m guessing you have a plugin to generate these bullet images ( possibly this one? ).

    Try disabling the plugin and then search through your page source to see if they have gone.

    Thank you for the quick response Guy! I am not using a plugin for the bullet points, but I am using a plugin for the table they are in, do you think the table could be causing this problem? Is there a better way to organize this without using a plugin for a table? I think I tried using a regular html table and had some problems (I built this a while ago, and don’t remember exactly why I chose to do it this way) but if you tell me the best way to organize the bullet images (just .png’s) I’ll give that a try!

    For right now I am adding more verbal content… any thoughts on why the spider is picking up phrases like ‘wp-content’ and ‘upload’ on my site, but not my competitor sites?

    Thanks!

    Actually – I decided to just take those out completely. They render terribly in mobile view anyway. Thank you so much for your feedback. Thank you Guy!

    That’s great!

    For the keywords issue, this might be due to the way that the keyword density website works to analyse a page. Try looking in Google Webmaster Tools to see which keywords Google is actually picking up. If you don’t see the strange entries in there then the issue is likely with the keyword density website.
