I am planning to release 2 column version of above Theme very soon.

    hi
2 column would be welcome helps us novices keep things uncluttered

Can you please explain what makes a theme “SEO optimized”. Isn’t this a function of the content and not the design?

    Buzzword… maybe? ??

    That’s what I thought.

If you look at the theme file, you will notice that header.php contain less code and rest are in index.php, page.php and single.php

On our test we, have noticed that in this theme, pages load faster than normal themes where header.php has some heavy code. This makes search engine bots to crawl pages easily.

Also this theme is XHTML and CSS validated which is known to Search engine as properly coded sites.

    We have incorporated jvquery.

You will notice that Page and post Title are not clickable in individual page or post. Its pure <h2> which helps in SEO of that particular page or post.

There are many other things we have focussed on making it SEO Optimized.

Themes can be SEO optimized by loading content before header and sidebar (not easy, but can be done). Also making sure that the headings (<h1>, <h2>, etc.) are in their proper order, plus a few other things. Here is a link that has some info:

We will be doing more improvement on content loading. Thanks for the link.

Well, loading the content before the sidebars makes sense. Loading the content even before the menu/navigation – seems to be an abberation and would make a site very difficult to navigate for text-only browsers and for those visually impared…

Somehow those SEO gurus tend to forget that you should write for people not exclusively for machines (=se).

There are way too many “optimized sites” out there filled with worthless information. People need to spend more time creating worthwhile content and less time trying to outsmart the search engines.

I don’t think SEO Optimization would be an action to outsmart the search engine. SEO Optimization is a help for Search engine to find your smart contents…

Yeah, but I kind of agree with Chrisber. It seems like everyone is obsessed with SEO and Google and page ranking and actual content (real, live, keyword-rich, NATURAL LANGUAGE content) seems to be as rare as hens’ teeth these days. ??
