Hi there, I was doing SEO audit with Ahrefs and it showed me that i have Multiple title tags on all pages (each page somehow has two SAME titles).

I thought maybe that was some conflict with my theme settings, but as far as I know I don’t have any SEO adjusting options builtin in my theme.

So I went ahead and disabled Titles and Metas in SEO Pro setting.

I ran the audit again. The issue with multiple titles persisted, but meta disappeared.

I did some more tests and I also figured that when the meta feature is enabled I don’t have my manual metas crawled by robots (I put it myself in each post) rather than I have so sort of pattern. (%%tagline%% or whatever it is).

    So I have two questions:
    – how to fix duplicate titles issue?
    – how do I have MY custom-crafted meta in the respective crawling places?

and actually, another question if the plugin is php7.3 compatible?

Hope to hear from you soon. Thank you for your help in advance.

    Hi,

what is the URL of your page?

PHP 7.3: yes the plugin is developed in 7.3.

If you have duplicate title tags, this guide should help you:

    https://www.seopress.org/support/guides/fixing-missing-add_theme_support-in-your-theme/

Not sure to understand your question about robots. Can you explain?

    Thx

    Hi there, Benjamin,

after checking out the post (didn’t help – I wasn’t able to locate those lines of code in there)
I took my time and talked to developers of my theme to check if some sort of settings were causing the duplicate meta and title issue.

Creator told me that the theme itself doesn’t have SEO settings – so anything meta is created by the plugins I am using. And the only thing I use for SEO is SEOpress Pro.

If you can have a look at my website doghint.com and make some suggestions I hope it will help.

    Thank you in advance,
    sincerely,
    Ana.

    Hi,

almost all your head is duplicated (inline CSS, meta title, inline JS…).

I think wp_head() is called twice in your theme (header.php).

Can I have a link to download your theme?

Sure – you can find the downloadables here: https://alx.media/themes/minimer/

I try your theme on my local setup.
    Everything is working as expected.

Do you have a child theme?
Try to disable (except SEOPress) and reactivate all your plugins one by one to find the culprit.

    Thanks

    Hi there, Benjamin!

Thank you for the sound advice.

    Here’s what I did:

I started with another site of mine as it is smaller and doesn’t have traffic – i’ve just started it – so the plugins (or disabling the plugins) won’t affect anything. The site has the same set up – the same theme (i m not sure what’s the child theme you were referring to – so probably the answer is no, I am using the main theme I shared with you), the same set of plugins, the same hosting.

I’ve run the crawler with all disabled / all enabled plugins – the was no duplicate meta issue.

So I get on to the website I was referring to in my initial request – doghint.com.
I disabled all the plugins except SEOpress.
    Issue persisted.

I disabled SEOpress – both pro and freemium – issue persisted.

I am comparing the code in the head section – maybe there’s some snippet of code from google analytics or whatever that does that…
And I am also contacting my host now

But if you might have any other suggestions (even though clearly it’s not the plugin the causing this problem) I’d appreciate it.

    Thank you.

Hum maybe a caching issue on the host side? Or something wrong in the wp-config.php / htaccess…
As SEOPress is not the issue, I’ll mark this topic as resolved ??

Yes ?? Thank you so much for the help – your suggestions were the most helpful (hosting people didn’t do much really, had to figure it out myself…)

    Have a lovely week!
