• Can I post SEO questions in this miscellaneous forum?

My question is in the application of SEO terms, keywords etc, as they apply to a particular specialist scenario.

We are a newspaper/media channel based in Ibiza.

The question is whether we should be adding ‘Ibiza’ to pretty well every SEO keyword and keyphrase we use to maximise our appearance in search, despite the fact that in practice it goes against the concept of natural writing that is itself an SEO fundamental?

Example: If we are writing about crime at a general level, or perhaps a specific crime, say an armed robbery. A site of our size would never hope to appear anywhere using the keywords ‘crime’ or ‘armed robbery’. However we could hope to appear very high on Google’s search return for ‘Ibiza Crime’ or ‘Ibiza Armed Robbery’. So that is easy enough as far as giving Google its guided SEO keyphrase using Yoast SEO or similar.
However repeated use of the term Ibiza in the actual content just reads as clumsy and forced. It reads like somebody who is trying to tick SEO boxes – which to some extent we are, all be it the claimed Google friendly boxes of Yoast. 95% of the time there is no need or argument to use ‘Ibiza’ in the content text, as it is self evident by the fact that you are reading an article about Ibiza on a website dedicated to Ibiza.

It doesn’t really matter what the subject is, the same applies.
    Electric vehicles.
    Tourism statistics.
    Weather.
    Nightclubs.
    Restaurants.
Everything would require the addition of ‘Ibiza’ to be competitive in Google search, but read as clumsy and unnatural if it were included.

To fulfil the requirements of Yoast and make all its little faces turn green with happiness, it can be completed either way, with or without the Ibiza.

Ideally there would be a way of telling Google that it should add ‘Ibiza’ to everything you put out, because everything you put out is based in Ibiza and the subject written as being in the context of Ibiza.

I am sure many other situations would have the same apply. Interested to hear the thoughts of others.
