SEO effects of removing blog name from title?

    Love your plugin, just recently switched and love how straight forward it is.

    My little problem is that one of my sites has quite a long blog name, and it takes a lot of pixel space in post title. In the settings there is an option to remove the site name from title, but you warn to only do it if I am aware of SEO effects.

    What are these effects exactly? There is almost no information on it in google. Also, if brand name is so important, maybe an option to shorten the blog name in titles would work?

    Hi @boyka555,

    The main reason for adding your brand to titles is because Google expects it.
    They expect it so much that they’ll sometimes even append it for you when you omit it.

    Branding your titles also emits authority for users. Mainly because they also expect it…

    I added the warning there because it affects all pages, negatively so on ones out of your control, like date archives, 404 pages, etc.
    When such pages are displayed in the search results (although unlikely), it’s difficult to tell whose it is.

    In any case, my suggestion would be to shorten your title if at all possible in the General Settings of your website. Then, for the homepage specifically, put the full brand name in the title.

    It’s possible that the General Settings title affects more than just the title tag. For that reason, your suggestion for the option to shorten it is already under consideration. Before we get onto that, there’s still a lot to be done regarding titles in TSF plugin; it’s still handling things as if it were version 1.0.
