Sent mail on topic/page update

  • Is there any possibility to make this? We start making “micro news” which we are publishing on one page – Those are too small for new topic but important and we inform people through them – Is there any possibility to use mail poet to send notification to all our users automatically or by using some tweak to send one latter every time which will show that there is new content on some page/topic? Thanks in advance!

    Do you have your “micro news” registered as a custom post type? If so, you could set up a newsletter to send whenever a new “micro news” post type is added. If not, I’m not sure you can accomplish your goal without some special coding.

    Maybe the Pro version of MailPoet has additional options that would work for your particular case, but the free version only sends when there’s new content, as in a wholly new post or page. If you modify/update/add to an existing post/page, such activity does not trigger a send.

    If you or someone on your team has coding knowledge, maybe you can figure out some code to add to your functions.php file to extend the capabilities of MailPoet.

    Even that would be tricky, though, because you need to have MailPoet send whenever one particular page is updated. Pages don’t support tags/categories, so you’d have to target that page some other way, such as by its post ID. In addition, a send would be triggered even when you simply modify the page, not just when you add a new micro news item.

    For these reasons, my personal suggestion would be to register a custom post type for your micro news. Then set up an auto newsletter to send whenever a new micro news post type is published.
