Hi @outdoorsmen – I am not sure where you came up with that accusation.
This plugin sends links to their website when it sends out the notification.
First, let’s be clear – the text at the end of the email is exactly:
This was sent by 99 Robots Post Status Notifications.” 99robots.com
The reason that clear message is added at bottom of the email is to ensure site owners as well as the authors KNOW exactly what plugin (who) is sending / generating the message. Imagine if you had 20 or 50 plugins and you and your users received such messages but didn’t know which plugin was sending the emails – how exactly would you identify the plugin that created the message if you wanted to turn it off?
The authors also made their files Read Only in an attempt to prevent you from making any changes.
Please do not accuse people whom you have never met or interacted with. We have no need to do such a thing.
As with ANY WordPress plugin here on the WP repository, it is GPL license where you can download and EDIT any file you want. There’s no such thing as setting any file as ‘read only‘ with plugins so making accusatory statement like that is not only false, but hurts the entire ecosystem of authors that provide FREEEEEEE plugins for your use.
And as you pointed out, you can simply change that line to whatever you want. It’s GPL. Do whatever you want to the code and edit that line. Clearly, it states that the email was sent by the Post Status Notifications Plugin – – how is that spamming? That is informative and should be appreciated (p.s. you’re the only person to have ever complained about this after 3,100+ downloads).
If you don’t know how to edit the file, then ask and most authors will help. But don’t accuse people of doing something that’s completely false.
I wish you the best, but your presumptuous and accusatory tone is not something we care to support. We’d rather contribute to WP and improve our FREE products.
Thank you.
