Sends password reset but will not send registration email

  • Hi,
    The system will not send new registration emails, but still sends password reset emails.
    I saw a lot of similar posts related to php email issue, but it my case if it sends password reset emails than I would think there can’t be a problem with php email. My problem is only with registration emails. And two years ago it worked.
    WordPress 3.9.31
    PHP 5.2.17

    Is there a specific reason why you have not updated your WordPress installation?
    That is a very old version (and the PHP version is also very out of date and may be insecure) – which will make it difficult to find support for it.

    Is there a specific reason why you have not updated your WordPress installation?

    Every update used to cause some issues to the site. And the theme I am using is no longer officially supported. Just afraid to touch it.
