I am so totally confused with this plugin. I have watched the video at least 5 times. I have created a New Post Published. Created a message in the notification. I have saved it. I have installed, and successfully used, Post SMTP to send a test email to me. In the All Notifications box it says it is published. How the heck do I send it? I see no “send” button. The video shows creating a New Post in Add Post and sending it – but how is that linked to the notification I just created.

I have searched the user forum for variations of send new notificaton. The written documentation tells how to create a new notification, how to send a test email, and something about creating a New Post to send to the Author, but not how to send the new notification to the selected users.

Can you please help me to use what seems to be a fine plug-in?

    Hi @sanchell2,
    THanks for your message.

The plugin sends notifications for when certain events occur on your site. To do this, you have to create a notification for them. E.g. You can publish a new post within WordPress but WordPress doesn’t feature a way to send an email about this new post to users on your site. This plugin allows you to do that.

Once you’ve created your ‘New Post Published’ notification in the Notifications screen, you can then publish a new post and it will send an email as per the settings in your notification.

    Does this help?

    Thank you for your response.

The answer is … almost yes.

If I understand you correctly, any post that is already online will not be sent. But if, let’s say, I create a new post today it will be sent?

Let me see if I can explain what I have done and perhaps you can guide me a bit further. I created a new notification. Under Notification For I chose “New Post Published,” as you already know. Under “Subject” I gave it the name of a new Post I had just published earlier that day “Nikon Z-Series Camera.” In the Message Body I wrote a message to the recipients telling them to have a look at the new post, Nikon Z-Series Camera. I sent a test e-mail using Post SMTP . Worked fine. I then saved the post. It says it is published and enabled – but it’s not sending. What have I done wrong (clearly it’s me)?

Perhaps I am using the wrong Notification For. Which designation should I use to simply send an email to communicate with my subscribers, telling them to have a look at an already published post, or a special offer on my site?

BTW, I really like this program from what I can see so far. If I can only get it to work! Is there a “pro” or paid version of this? I don’t mind paying for what I receive, but I don’t need any of the add-ons.

    Hi @sanchell2,
Thanks for clarifying. Sounds like you’re on the right track.

So firstly, it’s worth noting that the plugin can’t send out notifications retrospectively – it can only send out notifications for events, such as when a new post is published, but only after a notification has been set-up.

If you publish a post, then set up a notification for it, it can’t send an email about that post. If you set up the notification (which you only need to do once), then publish a post, it will send the notification for that post.

    Does this make sense?
