Sending emails to contributors

I’m trying to use FSC in a multi-contributor environment.
Each contributor will have the option to enable an email form to be displayed on their posts. Allowing visitors to contact them directly.
The FS form uses a value of 1 for the mailto_id. I’m assuming that this is the default for admin. When the value is set the 1 the form submits fine.
When the mailto_id is changed to a contributor id, it fails to send.
Is this by design? Is there a solution?
