If PHPMailer is not supported on your hosting, You should be able to choose different Mail Settings. You can check documentation from https://wp-events-plugin.com/documentation/mail-settings/

If you want to be notified on Event Submissions, You should check the Templates under: Event Submission Templates which can be found on same Settings Page.
