Sending automated reminders to customers?

I’m planning to use a shopping cart plugin (WooCommerce probably) to sell access codes to an online course. My client wants to be able to send weekly (and preferably personalised) reminders to the customers (‘Dont’t forget to do lesson 1’, ‘Here’s a link to lesson 2’ etc.) but I am struggling to figure out how to do that (partly because I am not sure what to call a system like that, which makes it hard to Google it). Does anyone of a WordPress plugin that would facilitate such a thing? I am more than willing to pay for a good and reliable plugin.
