• Hi, I’ve searched the forums and I can’t see that anyone’s discussed this before.

I’m currently building a site with Mambo and there are a couple of cool modules for sending email through the site. E.g. someone signs into their Mambo site and a little (4) appears next to their inbox telling them they’ve got mail. Some modules implement things like Squirrelmail or Hoarde for this.

My question is, does anyone think this would be possible with WordPress and if so how? (And, please, we don’t need to get into arguments over whether or not WordPress should be forced to act like a CMS! I’m sure we’re all sick of that one.)

Just strikes me as a great feature, especially if anyone’s using WordPress to design sites for others.

I hate bumping, but it no one up for this?

Is there no way it’s possible then?

Anything is possible with PHP and MySQL. Unfortunately, no one has done what you’re asking for.

It wouldn’t be too hard to write a plugin to provide “mailboxes” for registered users. Nor would it be hard to write a plugin to provide a contact form for individual registered users that delivers mail to the user’s real mail address.

No such plugin exists, yet, so feel free to earn some fame and fortune by writing it! =)

Much as I would value the fame and fortune, I wouldn’t know where to start. ??

Is there any reason (in the way WordPress is built) that something like this could work with Mambo, but not with WP?
