I would gladly become a paying member but I still have not been successful at getting the result I need the most.

I send out a “Daily Message”, which is a blog post of a specific category. I use a plugin called Republish Old Posts Pro to randomly republish previously created Daily Message posts. Every day, an old post of the specific category gets republished as a new post at approximately 8:40 am. MailPoet is set to “publish immediately” but will not send the broadcast email until about 2.45pm.

I’ve tried setting things up in MailPoet properly but cannot figure out why the long delay. I really need the email to go out in the morning, soon after it is published.

What can I do to make this happen?

    thanks.

  • Hi there @steverusso66,

    Thanks for reaching out!

So if I got it right, your daily Post Notification email is sent but with a delay, right?

I’d think the issue might be with your Newsletter task scheduler. Can you please try a different one from what you have set now? Here are the possible options: https://kb.mailpoet.com/article/129-what-is-the-newsletter-task-scheduler

thanks for your reply! I’ve tried adding a cron job to my server cPanel, I’ve set it up this way:

New post gets published automatically at 8:40 on my WordPress blog
Cron job set for everyday at 9am

Therefore, I should see the email go out with the new “Daily Message” at 9 or soon after, correct?

    Hi there @steverusso66,

You cron job should be running periodically as it affects not just scheduled emails, but usual newsletters too.

I recommend setting it up tor un every 5 minutes and see how it goes.

You can run it more often for quicker and more accurate sending.

    Cheers!

    Hi there @steverusso66,

Thanks for getting back to us!

I see that you set up two MailPoet cron jobs. You can remove the first one and leave the one running every minute.

After that, you can double-check with your host if it’s running properly. You can also schedule a test newsletter and see if it’s sent on time.

If it doesn’t appear to be running (i.e. emails aren’t sending), then it’s possible you may need to add the full path before?php?at the start of the command, for example?/usr/local/bin/php

ok, i’ve sent a request to my host. I’ll let you know if I get it working. Thanks for your time!

my host gave me this path to use:

    #!/usr/local/bin/php +x /home/rainbows/public_html/conversazionicondio.com/wp-content/plugins/mailpoet/mailpoet-cron.php

Does that look correct to you?

    Hi again @steverusso66 ????</img>,

I am certainly not an expert in Linux server setup so I can’t say for sure, but your hosting is definitely able to confirm that.

Now, once you have activated the cron job, you should be able to check with them if it is working properly or not. You can also schedule a test newsletter and see if it’s sent on time.

Looking forward to hearing back from you!
