• I am trying to use TheNewsletter plugin. It sends emails with a “sender” header but your plugin is replacing it with the entry in the config for Post SMTP. This needs to be corrected. Without the sender header being different, the bounce messages from newsletter go to the wrong place and it doesn’t work properly. If I use any other SMTP plugin, there’s no issue. Only yours seems to override the Sender header. And no, I don’t have the checkbox on to prevent plugins from doing this.

    I am using the Other SMTP settings and entering my own SMTP server.

    Thanks!

    @jglazer63 Hi,

    Can you share the exact name of the Newsletter Plugin?

    Also, can you please share the screenshots of the header or error screen?

    Thanks

    It is called “The Newsletter Plugin” and is available here:
    https://www.thenewsletterplugin.com/

    They even post a note in their installation, specifically for their Bounce addon, that it cannot be used with their addon. You can see the reference here:

    https://www.thenewsletterplugin.com/documentation/addons/extended-features/bounce-extension/#smtp-plugin

    I tried to fix your plugin and didn’t get too far so I ended up going with another SMTP plugin (easy SMTP or something) that worked correctly immediately.

    I know the RFC822 specs and the Sender/Return-path field specifically so I know exactly what they are referring to.

    Happy to try to test for you if you wish.

    Thanks for providing us with the details.

    I will reproduce it on my staging websites and if there will be any issues, I will fix them and release our updated plugin soon.

    We are unable to reproduce the mentioned issue on our staging site. It seems like the theme or some other plugin is conflicting with the Our plugin Can you change the theme to WordPress default 2022 or deactivate the plugins one by one and check if the issue still persists or not.

    Thanks

    I cannot change anything on the site now but this was a problem with 2 different sites and it is clearly noted in The NEwsletter plugin documentation. When I reviewed the header after using your plugin with The Newsletter plugin, I can see that the bounce settings (Return Path) settings were overwritten by your plugin. I suggest you try to install The Newsletter plugin and their Bounce add-on and see if you can get it to work with your plugin for sending email. I think you will find it will not work.
