send to email via form

Hi, I am using wordpress for the first time as a CMS and want to allow users to send me data via a simple form ( 1 field) to my email address. Normally I would use the php mail() function but is there an easy way to do this in wordpress than i can edit.

I would prefer not to use a widget as i find them difficult to edit.
