Send Coupon / Store credit not registering in order

As I was running a test check out order using “send coupon/store credit” but no information is recorded of the message and email I sent to the receiver to redeem the coupon/store credit.
1) they never received the credit/coupon
2) In the order itself under coupons sent: “no records found”
3) money was taken out of my paypal accountWhat am I missing in the configuration of the coupon/store credit part?
