• Here at our university, a faculty member wants us to provide him with a blog for his students to use as an online diary. No problem, right? Well… he wants the students to be very candid about their feelings toward their team members, so he doesn’t want them to be able to read each other’s posts. But, of course, *he* wants to be able to read them.

I’m aware that WP can mark posts as publish or private, but I’m not clear on whether a user with admin privs can read the private ones. Can WP do what I seek out-of-the-box, or do I need some plugin like PostLevels?

  • Ugh. WHAT a can of worms…. I don’t think wp will do this OOB, and you might find enough plugins to quasi-“fix” it, but I wouldn’t want to make book on keeping it completely private.

I’m not otherwise posting my real thoughts on this whole thing.

i think you can use disclose secret. It allows the author of the entry to choose which users can view their posts. In this case all the students have to do is check the name of their teacher.

But I think it can work without it. If each student is given a role of contributor and marks it private than only the student and the admin can read it. Methinks…
