    Hello,

I would like to know if it is possible to set up EDD on a multi-author site to allow members to sell their digital photography online?

Integration with the WordPress [gallery] shortcode would be one solution, potentially allowing the author to add a couple of new parameters that would include a ‘buy now’ button or something similar to the bottom of each thumbnail, watermarking the lower quality images (optional), masking the full photo URL, setting a standard price for the images in the gallery and then redirecting to a sales page where checkout can be processed.

    Something along the lines of:

    [gallery memberid="3" price="15" currency ="USD" watermark="no" rows="4" link="file"]

I understand these features may not be included right now, but am curious as to whether you might be able to introduce them into future releases? – I think these additions would open your plugin into a huge market to which I think there is a massive demand for such a product.

Rambling… If normal wordpress site owners knew they could install a plugin that would allow them (or their members) to sell photos in their gallery with ease, why wouldn’t everyone make use of it, as it’s an install once and forget about it plugin that would make it worthwhile even if they were to sell one download a year.

    Regards,
    Paul

This can already be achieved, depending on exactly what you want it to function.

Do you want authors to receive commissions of each sale, or for the entire purchase amount to go directly to the author?

    Hello Mordauk,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. That’s excellent news that this functionality is already built in!

I would be happy with either option, but I guess I would preference a fixed amount going to the site or admin, say 10%? – Is that possible?

Are you able to assist me in getting the plugin to work as expected or do you already have some form of tutorial or walk-through?

Thanks again for all your help,
    Regards,

The Commissions extension will handle tracking author commissions: https://easydigitaldownloads.com/extension/commissions/

For the authors themselves, simply give them either the “Shop Vendor” user role, which you can read more about here: https://easydigitaldownloads.com/docs/shop-user-roles/

Thanks for the heads-ups on the Commissions extensions.

How would I go about achieving an integration with the WordPress Gallery allowing authors to sell the photos they upload as digital downloads?

Do you want them to have a purchase button on each image when it pops up?

    Hi Mordauk,

Yes, Ideally I would like to have a purchase button at the bottom of each image that pops up.

I’m using pretty-photo as my lightbox, and an example of it in action can be found on one of my gallery pages here: https://www.livefreedietravelling.com/galleries/gary/nepally-dream/

That’s not possible except with custom development. The easiest thing to do (which doesn’t require custom dev) is to create a single product and upload each of the images for sell to the product, then enable variable prices and create a price option for each image. That will make it so there is a purchase button at the bottom of the screen along with radio/checkboxes to select the image(s) the customer wants to purchase.

    Make sense?
