SELECT Form Control is not read by Screen Reader

  • We’d like to report a problem with the UserWay widget screen-reader not reading out SELECT form control elements.

    We are in the middle of ADA compliance work being carried out in multiple phases for a website. We plan to use your WordPress plugin widget as an optional helpful feature. While we are working on forms, we noticed that the screen reader simply falls silent when visiting a SELECT form control. It takes focus but does not read the label for it or the aria attributes. The same SELECT controls are read properly by other readers such as Mac VoiceOver. We tried using the User Way widget’s reader on a series of different HTML markups for SELECT controls and it was the same “silent” result for all of our tests.

    Please let me know if you plan to issue a patch/fix for this or have any recommendations.
