Sela Theme: Widgets disappear

  • Hello,

    It’s 3rd time that Widgets on my main page disappeared. First time was about 2-3 weeks ago, 2nd time today, I’ve restored them and it happened again.

    I have 2 language versions of my page and it happens in all languages. After widgets are wiped I was creating new ones and it happened again.

    widgets that disappear are:
    First Footer Widget Area
    Second Footer Widget Area
    Third Footer Widget Area

    First Front Page Widget Area
    Second Front Page Widget Area
    Third Front Page Widget Area

    I don’t know if it’s WordPress issue, theme issue or some plugin issue. I would appreciate any feedback.

    p.s. for now I have restored them once again but i’m afraid they will disappear at some point.

    Hmm. That’s definitely odd, we haven’t had reports of widgets disappearing in Sela (or any of our themes) before!

    If this happens again, when you go to your Widgets area under Appearance > Widgets, check to see if your missing widgets are in the Inactive Widgets section at the bottom. If so, you can drag them back to the appropriate widget areas from there.

    To rule out a plugin issue, you could try turning off all plugins and seeing if the problem goes away. If the problem goes away, then you could reactivate your plugins one-by-one to try to find the culprit. Or, you could try turning off one plugin at a time and keep an eye on things.

    Hi,

    The widgets were not in inactive section, they were each time wiped-off.
    I don’t have a lot of plugins and this solution doesn’t seem possible..I have mostly essential plugins for my website and in order to check it they way You said, I would have to turn them off for 1 month and that’s not really possible.

    Is there any other way I can find out why it’s broken?

    For the time being I have left 9 plugins running (deleted 6 that I can survive without):
    Collapsing Archives
    Contact Form 7
    Email Subscribers & Newsletters
    Polylang
    Przekierowanie (redirections 301)
    Simple Lightbox
    Tiled Galleries Carousel Without Jetpack
    WP reCaptcha Integration
    Yoast SEO

    And that’s it. I will report back if it happens again ??

    Unfortunately there’s no easy way to nail down the culrpit in a case like this, without deactivating plugins.

    You could try first deactivating the Collapsing Archives plugin — one of the other forum volunteers has a hunch it could be that plugin causing the issue. The plugin also hasn’t been updated in a while.

    Another thing you could do is turn debugging on and then checking that file to see if any errors are being logged:
