sela theme eliminate homepage section

Hi
I am using the sela theme. i would like to eliminate the big white box on the homepage section. I am a novice with no coding experience, and would be uncomfortable doing that. Any handholding adice forr me?
Also, within the homepage section and on my blogs, the social icons are ertical. This makes the blogs seem too long, especially on cell phones. Any way to make them horizontal?

Hi Brian,
You can hide the white home page section that overlays the image by adding the css below to your site via the customizer in appearance > customize > additional css.
.hero-container-inner { display: none; }For the the social media buttons, they appear to be coming from a plugin called WP Socializer.
