Site Kit seems to work just fine on a single language site, but on a multi language site with WPML I get the following:

It looks like the URL https://www.thetastychilli.com/nl/ is not part of this site, therefore there is no data available to display.

I know WPML does some funky stuff with URL’s, so I can only imagine it is tricky for Site Kit to recognise that. We are using the sub directory /nl, but you can also set WPML to use sub-domains, ie: nl.thetastychilli.com I have to wonder how Site Kit might see that when traditionally that would be a separate site/WP installation, but in the case of WPML it would be the same site, apparently.

  • Hey Sean,

Thanks for reaching us out to us.

As for the subdirectory site URL Site Kit works perfectly & we have tested this at our end.

It seems Site Kit is not installed on the website you shared with us. It’d be great if you can share the website where Site Kit is installed so we’d be able to investigate at our end.

For separate WP installation with the subdomain/subdirectory Site Kit wouldn’t work in this situation due to separate code files.

Happy Friday & have a great weekend ahead.

    Hi @abdullahramzan,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I removed the plugin because it was only half working. I have put it back temporarily, or if we can find the problem then I might keep it on this site. At least my client wasn’t impressed that it didn’t work properly, I was the one who recommended it, she actually told me to remove it.

What also happened is Site Kit did not automatically detect that there was already a GA code snippet present (added via my theme) and so for the better part of a day the Analytics was double counting everything. This also happened 6 months ago when I first installed and subsequently deleted the plugin, the GA snippet was added twice and this was only discovered about a week later. I thought to check this time a day after re-installing, and low and behold, 2 snippets again.

I’m curious, how do you even know whether or not Site Kit is installed, and how would you be able to troubleshoot without WP admin access?

So yea, feel free to look into what you can. Whether or not the plugin stays, I’m still keen to know what I might have missed, I do have other sites where it could be used.

    @sean-h ,

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

It looks like the URL https://www.thetastychilli.com/nl/ is not part of this site, therefore there is no data available to display.

After detailed testing at our end we are able to recreate this issue at our end. We’d be happy to create an issue for you on Site Kit GitHub repo. We’ll update you once we’ve created the issue on GitHub.

Its not the expected behaviour of the Site Kit. Can you please double check again by visiting Analytics Snippet screen from the Site Kit Settings > Connected Services.

We can’t access your admin area of the Site. We just setup the same environment(WPML + Site Kit) at our server just to make sure WPML is working fine with the Site Kit. Yes we can replicate the same issue at our end by visiting translated page to see Analytics stats.

    Hi @abdullahramzan

Thanks for getting back to me.

When I went to Site Kit Settings > Connected services, it said it had detected an existing code snippet, as per your screenshot, but it went on to say ‘Snippet Inserted’. I had to set it myself to ‘Inserted by another plugin or theme’. To confirm, Site Kit was installed and then deleted some 6 months ago, so maybe something left behind in the database had something to do with this anomaly/glitch in The Matrix.

Otherwise, I think I’ll be removing Site Kit until it completely works on a multi language site made with WPML. I will follow this thread and Github.

    Regards, Sean.
