I installed performance lab and when to settings > performance and enabled it on my website here https://sigmaalphasigma.com/ Cleared my cache and then checked some images on my home page and none were converted. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Jesse

    Hi @jessemullinax,

Thanks for reaching out. Can you confirm that your server supports WebP? The best way to tell is by going to “Tools > Site Health > Status“. If you see a recommended improvement that says “Your site does not support WebP“, the WebP generation for new JPEG uploads will not work.

If you do not see that message or you see a message that says “Your site supports WebP” under the Passed Tests section from your Site Health status, there may be something else going resulting in your images not being converted. If so, please share your Site Health information here, along with the path to the image you uploaded (which didn’t convert). We can then check this further.

I was under the impression that the performance lab plugin would convert all past images as well. Is this not the case? Is there a quick way to convert all past images to WebP?

I have uploaded an image that displays that my server supports WebP images, and it seems that the plugin is working with newly uploaded images ??

    Hi @jessemullinax,

The plugin doesn’t convert previously uploaded images. Luckily there are other third party plugins that do provide this functionality, image optimization specific plugins.

Excellent! I can also see the image you shared is a WebP image, 46KB’s in size. Nice work!

If you have any further questions let us know.
