• Nice plugin! But I can’t get it to work because I dont have access to the php.ini file to enable exec() on a managed wordpress website. Is there an alternative?

    yes, check to see if there is a file on your webserver in this folder: “wp-content/webp-express/webp-images/doc-root/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/gearspop-324×160.png.webp”.

    Yeah there is no ‘uploads’ folder in wp-content…

    No broken images, but no webp either.

    You do see this folder? “wp-content/webp-express/webp-images/doc-root/wp-content/”

    It would be nice if the UI showed the location of the stored webp. I shall have that in mind when I create the filemanager-like interface for converting, which I have on the roadmap.

    Is that because I disabled “reference webps…” ?

    @clorith: thanks for simply moving the issue rather than deleting it (which is what has happened when someone have asked questions in a review). Next time that happens, I think I shall ask the user to re-ask the question in the support forum…

    @3eamus: Your screenshot shows that WebP Express has only created webps for some images in the plugin folder (probably happened when you clicked the test link). The should also have been a wp-content folder there. And you are sure you ran a bulk conversion? Of course you are. Well then it seems that WebP Express for some reason placed the images in a wrong location or have failed generating images, even though it claims to have done so. Tomorrow I can instruct you to do some manual debugging so we can get to the bottom of this.

    Ok thanks a lot, Bjorn. In the meantime maybe ill try reinstalling it and not click on the test link (if I did the first time). It did do a batch convert around 1900 files on the server though the first time.

    If you can wait for the next release, I’m going to show the destination path of the converted file in the Bulk Convert interface.

    I’m btw. currently working on getting WebP Express to work even when $_SERVER[‘DOCUMENT_ROOT’] is empty or not within open_basedir. This fixing might fix your problem
