Seeking suitable theme: Left sidebar. Pages menu in sidebar.

  • I’m looking for an easy-customizable theme which has a left sidebar, and in which the pages menu appears in the sidebar ~ not horizontally along the top of the site.

    Years ago there were lots of themes like this, but they seem as rare as hen’s teeth these days. Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Just giving this a gentle bump …

    I’m finding it really hard to find a simple theme with a left sidebar, and in which the pages menu is vertical, not horizontal.

    Or it’s generally possible to modify an existing theme to make that kind of change.

    Thanks, but I already searched in vein through the themes directory ?? Some do crop up (the same ones I used several years ago), but they all have warnings about not being updated for several years, and may not be compatible with current or future WP versions.

    It’s very frustrating, as the last time I developed WP sites (about five years ago) themes which followed the pattern of ‘traditional’ web sites were common. Now the trend is for right sidebars and horizontal pages menus.

    I do usually modify themes, but I’m hoping to find one that at least out of the box has the general layout I need.

    You might check out Suffusion – not sure if this is a built-in option, but it has a TON of options/layouts so it may well.
