see subcategories instead of products in the products loop

HI
I would like when I click on a parent category that the relative subcategories appear and not the products. However, when I deactivate the option from advanced > display products this does not happen. And all the filter menu stops working properly.

I wish the plugin would allow me to basically have the basic function that you get with the classic wordpress menu.
