    This very likely has nothing to do with the Roots theme. Connections does not control file/folder permissions, it only “obeys” the webhost permissions. Most webhosts allow proper folder permission to function perfectly with the WP default permissions of 755.

    Please contact your webhost for support regarding permissions related issues. Sorry, but I am not able to offer more help than that.

    Also, please note that according to WP docs 767 level permissions is acceptable for the wp-content folder:

    Regardless you will have to contact your web host for support in working with the file/folder permissions.
