  • I cannot find any signs of a hack in your 2-page site.

Then what is that picture showing in the main section of my first page when you use this link? Please open this link.

    https://www.bemache.com/index.php/the-joomla-project

Additionally, since I am using WP, why joomla in the above link?

Another note: this morning I had a message that I marked as spam since it was an add for something like “massive profit”, a get rich quick video. I click on the video. I clicked spam which it was. Do you think this was the cause?

That link leads to a 404 page on your site. You can make up any url @ https://www.bemache.com/ and you’ll get your 404 page – eg https://www.bemache.com/wibble-foobar

That’s just a spam comment. It can’t hurt your site.

This is the message the I received. What is in bold in the bottom was blue and I clicked on it. This is where I was lead to the page with the video described above. The message also contains an Email address.

“Hello Webmaster, I noticed that https://www.bemache.com/ is ranking pretty low on Google and has a low Google PageRank. Now the Google PageRank is how Google is able to see how relevant your webpage is compared to all the other webpages online, if you cannot rank high at the top of Google, then you will NOT get the traffic you need. Now usually trying to get to the top of Google costs hundreds if not thousands of dollars and very highly optimized targeted marketing campaigns that takes a team of experts months to achieve. However, we can show you how to get to the top of Google with no out of pocket expenses (free traffic), no stupid ninja tricks, no silly mind control techniques, and this will be all white hat with no blackhat software or tactics that could possibly land you on bad terms with Google and put you in the dreaded “Google Sandbox”. We’ll show you how to easily capture all the targeted traffic you need, for free, multiple ways to land fast (not months) first-page rankings in Google and other major search engines (Bing, Yahoo, Ask, etc), even show you strategies on how to earn daily commissions just try Ranking Top of Google, please check out our 5 minute video.

It’s just spam. Mark it as spam and then forget about it.

When I entered the first link, there was a picture that is not mine; it is a cat covered by napkins, etc.

The cat is part of your themes 404 page. It is located here, https://www.bemache.com/wp-content/themes/kippis/pix/cat_404.jpg

    esmi,
you are so kind responding to me. I thank you so much. My only problem is that I hate for people to click on that and get that odd picture of a cat! Thanks esmi.

    Dear kmessinger,
Are you saying that someone put that picture in my site? I have no picture as such on my computer. I I know what I uploaded. Please respond. Thanks.

If you do not like that image, replace it with one of a similar size. Or edit your theme’s 404.php template file and remove the call to the image completely.

Are you saying that someone put that picture in my site?

Yes, you did when you uploaded the theme to the server.

Themes come with their own layouts, colors and, in most cases, a few images. Your theme included a picture of a cat under a napkin which is then used on your 404 page. There is no foul play here.

    esmi, kmessinger,
I am absolutely sure i DIDN’T upload such a picture. I have never seen a picture like this or a cat like this. There definitely is foul play here. In an earlier comment, a long one, I described a comment that I received. The comment was promoting free seo but when I clicked on the link I was led to a get-rich-quick video.
I suspect this has to do with it.
Then it comes to me! I don’t know what I am doing. I should be more careful. And I need to learn so much. Than you great people. ??

    I surrender . . .

    esmi,
Thanks, your explanation about the theme thing must be the culprit. There is no way to thank you enough.
    much thanks to you,
