• I run and maintain my own site (wordpress installation – took offline for now)

In the past 2 weeks I got hacked twice (some Hamad replacing my landing page).

I was told that wordpress have tons of security vulnerabilities (unconfirmed!), so thought I’d drop a line here.

The host for that specific site are the most terrible I ever had, so if I can be sure moving to my other host (softsyshosting – fantastic!) would resolve the problem, I will do so. (Reason I’m hesitating is that I’m worried if I’ll be messing up my seo / alexa stats, which are pretty good after some hard hard work)

Any advice, tips, pointers are welcomed. No way in the world I’m giving up on WordPress because a darn script kiddie.

  • When you always stay up to date with the latest WordPress you always have the most secure version with patched security holes. As soon as a hole is found, the information is all over the world wide web, so any scriptkid can easily attack people who are too lazy to upgrade.
That for starters. Further there are a couple of things you can make your WP more secure:

But then again, your site is as safe as the least secure website is you’re on a shared server. Your host, but also people on the same server have to have top security too…

    WTF?

I posted this a hour or two ago. Just now I search myself, and find this page: https://www.shnkl.com/showthread.php?t=259004

It could also be a plugin with vulnerabilities.
Talk to your host when you’re sure it’s not your install.
