I have been using this plugin for the last few months without a problem but since the new wordpress version 3.8 has been upgraded it isn’t working. One of 2 things happens. Sometimes when an item is added to the basket and you go to the checkout basket the message is displayed “check out error” and nothing else is displayed. Sometimes when you add something to the basket and go to the checkout a completely different item is in there! I have tried this with several different sales but always the same item is in the basket completed unrelated to the purchase. Any advice would be greatly received. It must be something to do with the new wordpress version I am sure.

    thanks for your help

That’s very strange. I admit I’ve only done very basic testing of SCABN with WP 3.8, but it seemed to work fine.

Can anyone else post their experiences with SCABN on WP 3.8

Any chance you can get the php error message (maybe in the logs) when you get that “check out error”? I don’t see anything about “check out error” in SCABN, so I’m not sure what it is coming from. Are you sure that is the exact text?

Also, maybe try using the new WP Twenty Fourteentheme? Sometimes some themes have some conflicts with SCABN.

Hi again. No luck still. I have tried 3 different templates and the results are the same so I am sure it is something to do with the latest update. I have discovered that if I am logged into the dashboard and go to the front page and add purchases there is no issue at all – it even takes me to the payment page.

Any ideas what this could be? I am losing sales with this now

    thanks for helping

Did anything else change on your website when you upgraded to 3.8? I don’t think the problem is WP 3.8. The error you are getting about the security check is because SCABN uses’s WP’s nonce function to prevent cross-site scripting and verify that the requests (like add to cart) are only used once. I don’t know why that is failing on your site — maybe you have some aggressive caching plugin so the nonce value is not getting updated correctly.

One thing to try is to disable all plugins except SCABN and see if that works. If it does, start adding plugins back one at a time and testing to see what a plugin breaks SCABN.

Ok hun, thanks I will try that. I upgrade the plugins when notice is received and generally all the plugins receive upgrades when wordpress upgrades so perhaps you are right. I will try it out and report back so that other people know too.

Thanks for taking the time and trouble to come back to me

    kind regards

Ok I removed all the plugins (placed in another folder) and left just scabn and the issue was the same.

    any other ideas?

    thanks

Ok I think I may have solved it!!! I had quick cache on my site and apparently you need to clear the cache before disabling or removing it. I didn’t do that before as I didn’t realise. So I reactivated it, cleared the cache, deleted the plugin and closed down the dashboard. Went to the website added products to cart and bob’s your uncle! Hopefully it will still work tomorrow. Thanks for putting me on the right track.

No problem. Glad it is working. If you want to try re-enabling the cache, you may want to blacklist caching of the simple-cart-buy-now directory.
