Hi, from a storage of backups perspective doesn’t it make more sense to create non-secure backup files.

The reason such a question has arisen in my mind is because I’m thinking with the secure option set, to do a restore, both the .daf/.zip file and the .php file are required (the actual one).

But with the insecure, I’m taking it that one could get away with just the .daf/.zip and use a generic php file?

Thus in terms of backs storage, only needing a single file with integrity is a lot safer then needing two files with integrity as when the secure option is set?

    thank you,
    Jasmine

Hi @jasminechristina, I think I don’t understand you correctly. If your question is why we need the installer, simply said, it is giving the interface to install the archive. If you are asking about the secure file name option for the installer, this option adds additional security, so that people who shouldn’t access the installer can access it by appending /installer.php to your domain.

Hi, thank you. Sorry my bad I was thinking the secure backup was more than just the installer file name (though it totally makes sense, what you’ve explained). I’d imagined the installer also omitted all the archive files size checks, etc – so that in essence a generic installer file could be used.

My point is trivial, it’s obviously no big deal saving two files to a backup rather than a single one. Just explaining so you might understand what my original post was about ??

thank you for such an amazing plugin,
    Jasmine
