• This plugin allows you to upload and download documents that are stored outside of your web document root for security purposes.

This is great for people using plugins like Registered Only (and here) that secure your WordPress blog (Posts, Pages, etc). The problem with these plugins is that your loose files arena€?t protected – only the contents of your WordPress database. So, any images or other documents youa€?ve uploaded are easily accessible to those who arena€?t authenticated via a plugin like Registered Only. This plugin aims to solve this problem.

  • Looks like a WONDERFUL tool for those of us who are configuring ecommerce systems around WP. There are also a few php scripts that could be used as an addition to WP that would allow hooking up paypal sales, transaction management, and more, and using WP for the serving of the “catalog” of digital products. The key to security in this environment, is SECURING your digital product, and this plugin, if it works as advertised (just found it…will install it this afternoon) fills the bill for managing your content safely. After playing with it a little, I’ll review it here and mention the other tools I’ve already been using non-WP that may interface with WP giving you instant ecommerce power.

Please keep me updated, and post a link if you have any materials available on your site. I’m working on some more plugins/articles that should help people to get WordPress running as a secure CMS very soon.
