• I have a problem. I recently upgraded my GoDaddy account to a Deluxe hosting account so I could support multiple sites from one host. My first attempt was to setup another wordpress blog on one of the secondary domains. Essentially I would have DomainA and DomainB where DomainA was located on the site root and DomainB is located under a subdirectory of the site root. When I installed the second WP I received a 500 Internal Server Error on both sites. How can these two installs coexist without causing this problem? I started searching and ran into some suggestions about .htaccess, but they were all pretty old solutions. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • You will need to use domainname B as add on domain name ask GoDaddy support on how to set it up.

That’s already done. I can plant an index.html in the subdirectory for DomainB and it will come up when I go to DomainB with a browser. If I install WP into that directory though, I get a 500 Internal Server Error on both sites.

    Check your permissions

Check my permissions? Permissions to what? I have all the necessary permissions set for my site.

    naviathan,

Check error log for both sites. You’ll see more info about error there. It could be a lot of stuff, like .htaccess, php, some php modules failure, permissions and ownership. Check logs and you’ll see the cause.

Ok, what permissions are you guys referring to. From an adminstrative standpoint, the file permissions are as they should be. If you’re referring to permissions in .htaccess I’m not overly familiar with that.

Your html folder that is your root folder needs to 750 and all other folders inside html needs to 755 and all files 644

Ok, I don’t know what happened, but I uninstalled the second WP installation and reinstalled it. Now everything is working perfectly. I even installed a third WP blog for another client. Thanks for all the help.
