Second Blog Blank wp-admin/install.php Page
-
Hello,
I have a running site @ https://beginnerforum.com that is hosted on a VPS. I’ve been trying to install a second wordpress site on the same server but have been having some issues getting the thing running.
I SSH’d to my server and grabbed the latest.tar.gz wordpress archive and extraced it to my site directory /var/www/www.sophaloaf.tk/wordpress. I created a new mysql database “ashley_wordpress” and gave the wordpress group full control of it. I went in and edited the new wp-config.php to reflect the new database and credentials.
When I navigate to https://sophaloaf.tk/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php it complains that:
“Neither /etc/wordpress/config-sophaloaf.tk.php nor /etc/wordpress/config-tk.php could be found.
Ensure one of them exists, is readable by the webserver and contains the right password/username.”I created the file /etc/wordpress/config-tk.php and put the new database info in there. Now the install.php page is just blank with no error messages. I’ve tried many things including changing the host to 127.0.0.1, the FQDN, localhost. Nothing seems to be working.
If I remove text from the /etc/wordpress/config-tk.php file the error that is displayed is:
“Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at beginnerforum.com. This could mean your host’s database server is down.”I’m not sure where it’s getting the beginnerforum.com as the hostname.
I’ve never tried to install multiple wordpress sites on the same server so any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.
