Second and third featured images are reversed

I created a theme that allows me to use the second and third featured images as sliders and post tiles on the home page, while using the first featured image on the post itself. When I create the post, I save the images that I want as the second and third featured images and it looks good. However, when I go on the site later on, the second and third images are reversed, even on the edit page. Any idea why it would do this?
