I’ve found a handful of posts dealing with searching, and I’ve looked at a couple of hacks mentioned, but nothing seems to coincide exactly with what I’m hoping to be able to do.

One of the sites I run for a school consists of multiple “nested” blogs. There is a “main” blog for the school site itself, but then many of the departments and clubs have their own blogs which are linked to from the main blog.

I’d love to have the ability to search the entire wordpress database, and not just those tables with the same table name prefix. Does anyone know if this is (easily) possible?

In the mean time, I’m using a custom google search for the site, but that’s less than ideal since the user leaves the site, and to make matters worse, the google results return tons of links from the old site (before the wordpress-based version I’m responsible for) which of course are now dead links.

    *bump*

After searching through source, it would appear to me that I need to make some changes to /wp-includes/classes.php

Had no one attempted this before?

Spent much of the day hacking and trying to figure this out…no joy. Repeat after me: “always work on a copy…always work on a copy…”

Bump to the top again to see if the night crew has any insight…

12 hour *bump*… probably my last on this thread (is it a thread if I talk only to myself?)

This isnt help, but I am looking for exactly the same thing. I will let you know if I find anything.
