Searching for plugin or other solution to put sites into a list – any recomends?

Hi,

I am searching for a plugin or soething similar to be able to put websites in a list.

i am usign a responsive theme design and would like to have a way to put items in a list.

For example if someone click in menu on recipes->chicken it would open them a website with a list of pages in this Chicken category. the list woul dneed to have a link, a small picture of the dish and perhaps a short summary of the recipe.
My first though was to do it manually using a table (thi sis hot it is done now i believe). however i noticed that the table is not available in the default wysiwig. Could it be that they can’t be resposive or don’t display good in responsive layout.
Joomla has a list available but while it dispalys many information ofrm the created site it doesn’t display any pictures/thumbnails in it. while their blog option doesn’t display it in the way i want it to be displayed, but does dispaly the pics.

is there any plugin or other option to be able to do this in wordpress? preferably automaticly on creation of the website? what is this type of thing called as i am not even sure under what term to search this.
