Searching for “blog status” plugin/solution

Hello!

I have a client who is wishing to use a status update feature for the blog/website I am creating for her in WP. This isn’t related to Facebook or Twitter or anything external; it’s simply something where she can go into the WP backend and put in what she is doing / listening to at the moment and it appears via a template tag at the top of her blog page (apparently she can do something similar on her Blogspot blog). Ideally it would be easy-access, perhaps in the Dashboard, similar to “Quick Press.”

I’m having a hard time digging through the Facebook/Twitter status plugins to find what I want, so I’m wondering if anyone has a solution or plugin at their fingertips before I look into bugging my developer/husband to write me one. ??
