Searching by State

    When searching by state, it only shows a small number of pins/locations on the map of that state (even when zooming all the way out), not all the pins/locations of that state. Why is this?

    It also zooms into a remote area where there are not many stores, can it be updated to be zoomed out to show the entire state? This is what I would expect to see if I searched by state.

  • Hi there!

    If the search is for a country / state name, then this often will yield undesired results. A search will always start from the center of whatever you search for. So if you search for California, then it will look for locations within x km of the center of California, even if some of the stores in the search radius are in Nevada, for example. This makes searching for countries / states a bad idea, but this will be fixed with the 3.0 update.

    The only workaround by now is to use a large default search radius, and categorize the stores by state, so that users can first select the state name, and then in combination with the large search radius it should return all locations within that state.

    How will it behave exactly when version 3.0 comes out?

    When will version 3.0 come out?

    There will be a new option in the settings labeled “If the search input is a country or state, then return all results?”.

    When this option is enabled the max results and search radius values are ignored when a user searches for a country / state name.

    So if you for example have 200 locations in Germany, and the user searches for Germany, then all 200 results are returned.

    There is not a specific release date for v3.0, but a public beta should be available within the next month or so.

    Ok great. The default area in view, when searching a state will be the entire state ?

    The feature is not fully developed yet, so I cannot tell by now. I hope you understand ??
