I wonder if it’s possible to add body keyword search to both Listings and Posts in the current site’s back end. Right now it’s Titles only (I think in oldsite you could choose body or title).

For example, what was useful on the ‘oldsite’ was I could search, say, “Argyle” and it would bring up all the past listings with the word Argyle in the body (Argyle Lofts!) – even if Argyle wasn’t in the title.

    Is this a big ask?

    Hello @sol0712

Thank you very much for using our plugin. Yes, that’s possible. The plugin settings includes the “Search in” section with the following options:

    Posts/Pages common data (title, content)
Posts/Pages metadata (additional data of articles)
    Posts/Pages author (display name)

You can tick the checkboxes corresponding to the sections where you want to search.

    Best regards.

Hi, and thanks for your reply.

If I’m reading it right, this feature?is available only with?the advanced version of your plugin. Is there any way to get the results I’m looking for using the basic version? Or any other way for that matter?

    Hello @sol0712,

The plugin searches terms in the pages and posts’ titles and contents by default. If you want to search in custom post types, you will need the Professional plugin version.

I can test the search box on your website because it has enabled “Site Offline” mode.

    Best regards.

Is there anything you need from me in order to let you do that? And if it’s not too big an ask, would you be able to list the steps you took?

Sorry, I may not be asking precisely what the client’s looking for. He’s looking to use the search bar at the upper right of the dashboard as in the screencap here: https://snipboard.io/GnaNFo.jpg. My apologies for the confusion.

    Hello @sol0712,

The “Search in Place” plugin allows you to transform the search boxes in the public website into search-in-place components to display the search results immediately as the user types the terms just below the search box. It does not modify the search boxes in the dashboard or WordPress admin sections.

    Best regards.

    Hello @sol0712

You should not share WordPress credentials in the WordPress forum. It is against the forum’s policy.

Also, if you want to search by listings on the public website, as listings are custom post types (they are not posts or pages), you would need the Professional version of the Search in Place plugin.

    Best regards.

Thanks for this. From what I’m reading, WordPress’s native search function is supposed to find search terms in both titles and body text — it just isn’t doing so in this case, and I don’t know why. I understand that this plugin won’t help, but I appreciate your guidance anyway.

    Hello @sol0712,

Our plugin can search terms in titles and body texts from website posts and pages on the public website. The professional version of the plugin allows you to search in custom post types too (Not only posts and pages).

    Best regards.
